save us all
A thousand times a day it seems I rescue a child from wasps, knives, power outlets, sharp corners, slippery socks on staircase landings, the gas stove, chairs that are not stable enough to stand upon, running with pencils, poisonous mushrooms, sneaker waves, road traffic, etc., and with every tortured scream that I receive in thanks for this solicitude, I breathe a little prayer: Lord, save me from the things I think I want. —Save us all.
